Causes Of Weight Gain

Unintentional weight gain is one of the fastest growing health problems in North America. The list of diseases caused by obesity is long, and is topped by heart failure and its precursors. But what causes weight gain? There are obvious factors like the food you eat, and some less obvious including stress and lack of sleep. But all these factors are part of a larger picture.

Can I enjoy my coffee and still be alkaline?

Can I enjoy my coffee and still be alkaline?

Isn’t it interesting? Drinking a cup of coffee can make us more feel more awake and aware. These are things that everyone enjoys and appreciates. In a humorous way: All of Northamerica runs on coffee 🙂

And a strong espresso is about 10.000 times more acidic then our blood. So our body needs to work hard to balance/buffer the coffee’s acidity. Lots of minerals from our “beauty pillars” skin, scalp, bones, theeth are used for that chemical reaction.

So it’s not surprising that a question that I get all the time from people is, “Can I still have coffee on the Alkaline Diet?”.

Ok, let’s be very clear on this! Coffee is very acid forming in the body. It does not have an alkalizing effect, and so its not a good idea to drink too much.

As everyone knows, the key to a happy and healthy life is to take “everything in moderation“. The key is the acid-alkaline balance.

“Is It Time For Me To Quit Drinking Coffee?”
Quitting coffee is easy if you’re ripe and ready to do it, and next to impossible if you aren’t! It really comes down to the question that each must answer for themselves… “What are my priorities?”

If you have serious health issues, and you’re committed to recovering your health as soon as possible, then quitting coffee is one of your best moves right now.

If coffee is still a priority for you, and you are not seriously ill, then you are probably not quitting it any time soon.

If that describes you, then here are a couple of tips to help you to keep an alkaline balance in your body while still having your morning coffee.

Tip #1 – Add Whipping Cream
On the alkaline diet, it’s generally accepted that yogurt (esp. goat and/or organic), sour cream made from real cream, cream cheese, butter and unsweetened whipping cream are all ok.

So instead of having your coffee black, or with some homogenized milk or cream, try adding whipping cream.

Dr. Jentschura says that whipping cream has a somewhat alkalizing effect on our bodies. This can partly buffer the acidity of the coffee before you even put it into your body!

Drinking your morning coffee will still contribute acidity to your system, but the net effect will be less damaging with the addition of the whipping cream.

Plus, whipping cream in coffee makes it very rich and deliciously creamy! It might take a bit of getting used to, but many people, myself included, find it really good!

Tip #2 – Take Some Extra of Dr. Jentschura’s WurzelKraft
When we consume acid-forming foods, our body compensates by buffering the acids with alkalizing minerals. These minerals are coming from your body’s mineral stores (your blood, skin, teeth, hair, bones, joints etc).

Before you have your cup of coffee, eat a few teaspoons or tablespoons of WurzelKraft. This provides your body with an abundance of alkalizing minerals and about 50.000 vital substances which it can use to buffer acids and build up its mineral stores.

Aim For A 80/20 Alkaline-Acid Balanced Diet
Its all about balance. Ideally, aim for 80% alkalizing foods and beverages in your daily diet. We are talking about fruits and vegetables (including grains, nuts and seeds). You don’t have to be perfect! Trying to be perfect, and thinking you need to be perfect is just setting yourself up for failure!

We all know when we are eating healthy, or unhealthy things. We all know when we are eating in unhealthy ways. Choose foods, and ways with foods, that you know are nourishing and nurturing to your body. And its ok not to be perfect.

Natural Pain Treatments

Pain Reduction

To live with chronic pain is very challenging. I like to offer you some inspirations to help with pain.

Yoga, Meditation, Therapy, Deep Joy

Emotional Stress is in my perception #1 reason for long term physical pain. Find ways to implement sources of joy and relaxation into your life on a daily base.

Physical therapy

Massage therapy, Cranio-sacral therapy, Physio therapy, Feldenkrais, Chiropractic therapy can have a positive result.

Exercise, Yoga and Walks

Mostly pain is related to an overflow of acids and toxins in your body. Deep breathing does help eliminating acids/toxins via the respiratory system.

Exercise does strengthen your muscles. In Germany there is a saying: “A strong back does give you no pain”.

Try to work out as much as you can. YouTube is full of inspirational videos about e.g. exercises for chronic neck and shoulder pain/ degenerative arthritis.

Just do it 🙂

3 Weeks Hypoallergenic Alkaline Diet

This means completely avoiding an acidic diet with all the obvious unhealthy foods to see if your pain is reduced. Your focus is a super clean healthy green diet based on organic green vegetables.

Try to avoid (as much as you can) acid generating foods like sugar, sweeteners, meet (red meat/pork), soft drinks, coffee, black tea, alcohol, milk and dairy products.

After the 3 weeks any pain symptoms should not exist anymore.

After 3 weeks you slowly introduce one acidic food at a time and see how your body reacts and if pain is reintroduced.

Arnica

Arnica is applied to the skin for pain and swelling associated with bruises, aches, sprains, and arthritis. It is also applied to the skin for  muscle and cartilage pain, chapped lips, and acne.

MSM
Methylsulfonylmethane (MSM) impacts your health by reducing inflammation and improving your body’s ability to make its own antioxidants.

Probiotics

If you have an inflammatory type of arthritis and lot of pain, probiotics may be especially important. The beneficial bacteria appear to have an impact on inflammation, reducing common biomarkers of inflammation, including C-reactive protein.

Vitamin C

Also known as ascorbic acid, vitamin C has also been linked with pain relief

Turmeric

Curcumin is the main active ingredient in turmeric. It has powerful anti-inflammatory effects and is a very strong antioxidant.

Omega-3

Omega-3 fats are healthy fats with many health benefits for adult and children. Omega-3 fats may help lower your risk of heart disease. In infants, omega-3 fats help with brain, nerve and eye development.  Research is currently being done to see if omega-3 fats play a role in lowering the risk of cancer, dementia, Alzheimer’s disease and depression.

Serrapeptase

Serrapeptase has been used successfully for the treatment of cardiovascular problems, arthritis, fibrocystic breast disease, lung problems, sinusitis problems, carpal tunnel syndrome, and even sports injuries. It is recommended as an anti-aging agent simply because much of aging has to do with the accumulation of scar tissue, inflammation, and dis-regulation.

Dr. Jentschura’s 3 step program

Lots of people report about great results with Dr. Jentschura’s 3 step program. Releasing acids and toxins via the skin in long soothing foot and full bath does miracles. Speaking from my own experience alkaline local treatments with e.g. Dr. Jentschura’s Neck wraps do miracles with head/neck aches. Using the body wrap does help with back pain. Step 2 in having a great green healthy diet does help a lot: Eating large amounts of WurzelKraft does help your kidneys to eliminate toxins and acids. PLEASE READ MORE HERE

“Alkalize or Die”

Sorry for this shocking, powerful headline. And it is true on a chemical level. Our blood must be always alkaline otherwise we die instantly.
Nevertheless some MDs claim that “The Alkaline LifeStyle” is nonsense because the body itself has many different pH-levels and is able to buffer any diet (acid or alkaline).
Yes, the body is able to buffer any diet for a certain amount of time. But it comes with a cost to it.
Of course our body, the biochemical miracle, is able to deal with for instance a strong black coffee (which has a 10.000 times more acidic pH-level that our blood) and it is able to buffer it. But buffering actually means that the body is neutralizing the acidity of the coffee in a chemical reaction using organic minerals out of our mineral deposits (bones, skin, scalp and teeth).
So in living the “I do not care what I eat/drink” acidic life style with no exercise and lots of stress I basically long term exploit my body via demineralization which causes lots of diseases.
I love the simplistic comparison of your body with a bank account: Either you choose to deposit youth and health via alkaline life style (green, mineral rich diet/exercise/good sleep/positive attitude) or you deploit your health via acidic life style.
Our blood – why is it so important?
(by lifebloodonline)
Our blood could be viewed as the river of life; it is the substance that carries oxygen, water and nutrients to all your organs and tissues.
It therefore makes perfect sense, that imbalances seen in the blood will affect the organs and tissues, leading to malfunction and imbalance. Read more…
Why Alkalize?
A seven-year study conducted at the University of California, San Francisco, on 9,000 women showed that those who have chronic acidosis are at greater risk for bone loss than those who have normal pH levels.
Many of the hip fractures among middle-aged women are connected to high acidity caused by a diet rich in animal foods and low in vegetables. – American Journal of Clinical Nutrition.

Tips on how to deal with stress

Posted on : 17-09-2015 | By : Stephan, The Alkaline Diet Guy | In : Alkaline Diet and improving your well-being, Alkaline Diet Health Tips

Stress: “A state of mental or emotional strain or tension resulting from adverse or very demanding circumstances.”

In our fast pace lives it is sometimes very hard to juggle family, hobbies, body care/fitness, finances, career, friends, etc.. It seems to be very easy to get lost in demanding circumstances.

Stress is, with anger and fear, one of the biggest reasons for not being well, which is the beginning of any dis-ease in our busy lives. On a physical level it creates lots of acidity in our body which brings imbalance in our body chemistry.

What to do?

1. Set your priorities right. Find out why you are here on the planet. Dig deep. Get a foundation for your existence which is solid. The deeper you dig the stronger it is. Are you here to become a multi millionaire while working like crazy? What is your life about? How old do you plan to become? Take time for and with yourself and ask you self uncomfortable questions and find out what your priorities in life are. That is crucial for a happy, healthy life!!!

2. Love exercise! Walking, swimming, dancing, jumping, working out, team sports, all bring lots of fun into your life. YouTube is full of aerobic, dance and Zumba videos you can start with. There are great programs like P90X you can buy and enjoy working out at home without going to a gym.

3. Breathing exercises, Yoga and meditation are very recommended. Deep, relaxed, proper breathing is super important for healthy living because, not only acids and toxins are actually released via the respiratory system, but also lots of healthy benefits are connected with breathing:

Steady energy throughout the day,
Great positive mood,
Freedom to breathe deeply and easily,
Waking up clear headed and refreshed,
A Clear mind and good memory,
A strong vocal expression.

4. Make good diet choices: Try to eat a green, organic diet with lots of fresh salads, veggies in season, seeds, nuts, buckwheat, amaranth and quinoa. We always love to support you with Dr. Jentschura’s organic and alkaline generating food and drink.

5. Enjoy alkaline full and foot baths together with dry/wet brushing: Taking an alkaline bath is like a little vacation and deeply relaxes and regenerates your complete system. Human life is created in an alkaline solution and our bodies greatly benefit from bathing in it. Dry and wet brushing increases your metabolism and your blood circulation, Both help with detoxifying your body.

Fasting – Cleansing and Regeneration by Dr. h.d. Peter Jentschura

Posted on : 25-02-2015 | By : Stephan, The Alkaline Diet Guy | In : alkaline diet, Alkaline Diet and improving your well-being

1

The month of February promises it all: In Latin Februare means clean. That may explain why lots of people become interested in fasting and perceive the wish for inner cleansing.
When we fast, we clean the organism and allow the body to regenerate for a period of time. The cells shut down their energy production. We notice this after defecation and the first cleansing days. In these days we are a bit tired and feel that the whole organism is working on detoxification.
These processes take place in nature. In winter walks we pass “bare” trees. These trees do nothing than a kind of fasting. The leaves have dropped in the fall. In winter, minerals and precious energy from the ground are collected and trees concentrate new powers for the creation of new branches, leaves and flowers in spring. When fasting we purify our body not only, but also collect new life forces.
Because we do not need to prepare any meals during fasting and do not need to go shopping, we automatically have more time to care for our bodies and our minds. If you join a fasting group you can enjoy together walks in nature, and/or alkaline foot baths or pursue various relaxation techniques such as Yoga.
When we walk in the period of fasting, we breathe deeper and are more conscious because we perceive the fresh air and nature more intensely. Afterwards, we feel refreshed and invigorated.
During a foot bath we can brush our feet in the direction of elimination and massage the muscles. We can stimulate our foot reflexology with light pressure to help our body in the cleaning process. Relaxation techniques such as autogenic training, yoga or gymnastic exercises bring our minds to rest and free us from the many thoughts about our daily activities.
In the early days some people experience complaints during fasting such as headaches and joint pains, bad breath and increased sweating. Such side effects are called healing crisis, but not everybody necessarily has them. If you use the Dr. Jentschura 3-step method, these crises can be greatly reduced or even avoided. See also “Health by purification” by Dr. hc Peter Jentschura and Joseph Lohkämper.
What happens after fasting?
After fasting, the first days are very important, and we should take plenty of time. The organism must get used again to a normal diet. We should start with “easily to digest” foods and increase the amount slowly.
A juice fast is also the ideal introduction to a fundamental change in our eating habits. Cook in a different way. Try to eat mainly alkaline-forming food. Start step by step, and change little by little your meals!
Bring a change in your office or work life: instead of chocolate bar you snack walnuts, cashews, almonds and cranberries. Nibble a carrot, white radish or a fresh cucumber. Eat dinner with no opulent servings, but steamed vegetables, baked potatoes, soup or stew.
People who do not want to fast still can do something good: Try to renounce one day a week on cereal and animal protein and eat only fruits and vegetables. Drink more water or herbal teas than normal. This already achieves a lot.
We wish you much success on your (fasting) path to wellness!

The History of Medicine, Meditation and Pain

I got a critical email from a MD concerning some statements I made about the connection of body-mind-soul, the importance of being a happy heart and the power of belief. The doctor wanted to see clinical evidence which I understand completely. If you study app. 15 years in a mental system/structure that is based on scientific evidence then you need proof.

Beside the fact that scientists have a hard time proofing/defining love, most people realize “some importance” of love in their lives.

Modern medicine is based on the statement that all disease is caused by external viruses and bacteria. These are our enemies and we need to fight viruses/bacteria and the symptoms of disease they cause. This approach is founded by Louis Pasteur in the late 19th century.

At the same time Antoine Bechamp founded a completely different approach: all micro organisms exist already in our body and mute into fungi which create toxic waste but only in an acidic environment!

Please read more about this in Robert Young’s book “The pH-Miracle”
“pH-Miracle” Amazon

Also I like to share a general thought concerning any clinical trials and studies: Famous physicist Werner Heisenberg stated that the outcome of every scientific experiment is determined by the consciousness of the one who is creating the experiment. In my words: As humans we are powerful beings which have the power to influence the result of an experiment via mind power. In Germany there is a saying concerning surveys: “Never belief a survey you did not fake yourself.”
That is why there are 50 scientific books on the market telling you to eat meat and 50 books warning you to eat meat.

Nevertheless it is always interesting to listen to good arguments, try things out and then take decisions in your life based on your experiences.

And now I am happy to let you know about this study:
A US study found out that meditation (Being aware of one’s breathing) reduces the perception of pain by 40%. People had these results only after a 4 day introduction to meditation.
Meditation and Pain
